Bill de Blasio Gets Boost By Latino/Bronx Endorsement

In what can be seen as a blow to Hispanic pastor and Conservative mayoral candidate, Erick Salgado, Bronx Assemblyman Luis Sepulveda (D-87) today endorsed New York City Public Advocate and Democrat Bill de Blasio for Mayor. Mr. Sepulveda served until recently as chief of staff to Senator Reuben Diaz, who is backing Rev. Erick Salgado for mayor.

Assemblyman Sepulveda pointed to de Blasio’s tireless efforts to expand affordable housing, promote economic fairness, and strengthen community-police relations in our city’s overlooked neighborhoods. “Bill de Blasio has a strong record of standing up for this city’s most vulnerable residents, and I’m proud to endorse him for Mayor today,” Assemblyman Sepulveda said according to statement released. “From protecting New Yorkers against powerful slumlords to advocating for a real living wage to reforming Stop and Frisk, Bill has consistently stood on the side of our city’s working people.” “

Assemblyman Sepulveda has fought for working families in the Bronx for nearly two decades, and I’m so honored to have him on our team,” said de Blasio. “Whether its fighting to reform Stop and Frisk or advocating for thousands of affordable housing units in the outer boroughs, my top priority has always been our city’s working families — and I’m proud to have Assemblyman Sepulveda’s support this year.”
