Where Is Thompson... Where Are You?

Since covering the mayoral race, we have gotten numerous calls from former Thompson supporters who have expressed disappointment in Bill Thompson's absence from major Jewish events.

Mr. Thompson's last visit to the Jewish community in Brooklyn, was at a closed event in the Avenue Plaza hotel's conference room, with the attendance of a dozen community leaders and operatives. However, Mr. Thompson was notably absent from the annual COJO of Flatbush legislative Breakfast, as from the JCC of Marine park breakfast a week earlier.

Last week, Assemblyman Dov Hikind sent out a press release in which he announced a Yom Hashoah (Holocaust Memorial) gathering by members of the Jewish community and others, led by the Yom Hashoah Mobilization Committee, to commemorate the millions of innocent people who perished in the Holocaust, this Sunday, April 7, at noon in front of the Iranian Mission to the United Nations.

Prominent elected officials and civic leaders, including NYS Assemblyman Dov Hikind (D-Brooklyn), Congressman Nadler and mayoral candidate Bill Thompson were among the announced speakers expected to address the crowd.

However, Bill Thompson was a no show at the important event. Instead, mayoral candidates Bill de Blasio and Erick Salgado were presented at the event and were invited to address the crowd.
