While He has managed to ramp up support among county chairs and local individuals, Billionaire John Catsimatidis got hit in the head by non other than one of the Queens GOP rising stars, Councilman Eric Ulrich.
"He’s a buffoon -- and he will never get elected mayor in New York," said Ulrich at a Wednesday press conference.
"The people who are telling him he can get elected are all on his payroll, and he needs to get out of the race -- ASAP," Ulrich told Celezte Katz.
"If [Catsimatidis] cares about the future of New York City and if he’s a true Republican like he says -- and not a 'Clinton Democrat' -- [he] should support the only guy who really has a shot [in November], and that’s Joe Lhota," said Ulrich.
In a response email, Catsimatidis laughed off Ulrich's broadside.
"Ha," the mayoral candidate wrote. "Let's see who is going to be last man standing."
Meanwhile, the City Council's four-man GOP delegation is endorsing Republican mayoral candidate Joe Lhota in the GOP City Hall primary, according to the Staten Island Advance. Councilman James Oddo (R-Mid-Island/Brooklyn) told the Advance he will join Councilmen Vincent Ignizio (R-South Shore) and Queens Councilmen Dan Halloran and Eric Ulrich at an endorsement event with Lhota at City Hall on Wednesday morning at 11 o'clock.
