The 'Anybody But Quinn campaign for NYC is Not for Sale 2013' independent group sent out a celebratory email rejoicing a full week of activity, gaining statewide attention, mainly driven by Ms. Quinn's response.
Friend,
This week we launched our Anybody But Quinn campaign for NYC is Not for Sale 2013. On Monday we launched our first television commercial. See the smoke-filled room where Christine Quinn negotiated the deals that sold us out.
You can read the New York Times article about it as well as their follow-up piece, showing that we were telling the truth, despite Quinn's claims to the contrary.
Our launch press conference got great coverage, including from the New York Post and the story continued when Quinn demanded that TV stations take the ad down.
So, yesterday, we showed up at Quinn's district office to demand that she respect our First Amendment rights! And today, former ACLU Executive Director Ira Glasser, penned an op-ed criticizing Quinn's actions in the Daily News. As he wrote: "We don’t need another mayor with this little respect for our traditions of free speech, or with so little regard for the First Amendment that she would respond to criticism by trying to repress it."
But we do need your support to keep going. Donate to the campaign, visit our website, or find us on Twitter: @NYCN4S, Facebook: New York City Is Not For Sale and Pinterest: NYCN4S.
We're very excited for what we have in store next week so please stay tuned!
Best,
Arthur Cheliotes, Allie Feldman & Wendy Kelman NeuCo-Founders of NYC is Not For Sale 2013
